This Privacy Policy describes how Return to Self ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and discloses your personal information when you visit returntotrueself.co (the "Site"), purchase any of our products, book a session with us, or otherwise interact with us.

We are based in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. We are committed to protecting your privacy and complying with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) where applicable, and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) where applicable.


1. Information we collect

We collect information that you provide directly to us, information collected automatically when you use the Site, and information from third-party services we use to operate the business.

Information you provide

  • Name and email address when you sign up for our newsletter or download a free resource
  • Name, email address, and payment information when you purchase the Return to Self guide or book a coaching session
  • Information you share during coaching sessions including health, psychological, and personal information you choose to disclose
  • Communication content including messages you send via email, contact forms, or social media

Information collected automatically

  • Log data including IP address, browser type, device information, and pages visited
  • Cookies and similar technologies (see Section 5)

Information from third parties

  • Payment processing data from Stripe (we do not store full card details; Stripe handles this directly)
  • Email engagement data from MailerLite (whether you open emails, click links)
  • Booking information from Calendly (when you schedule sessions)

2. How we use your information

We use your personal information to:

  • Deliver products and services you have purchased or requested
  • Send the email sequence associated with our free resources
  • Provide the coaching services you have engaged us for
  • Communicate with you about your purchase, sessions, or inquiries
  • Improve the Site and our services
  • Comply with legal obligations
  • Detect and prevent fraud or misuse

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.


3. Sensitive information

Coaching sessions may involve discussion of health information, mental health, and other sensitive personal information. Under Australian Privacy Principles, sensitive information requires explicit consent for collection and use.

By booking a coaching session, you consent to us collecting and storing:

  • Information about your physical and mental health that you choose to share
  • Information about your personal history, relationships, and circumstances
  • Information you share in writing or during sessions

We use this information solely to provide the coaching service you have engaged us for. We do not share it with anyone else, except where required by law (see Section 6).

We retain session notes for the duration of our coaching relationship plus seven years afterward, in line with professional standards for coaching and counselling records. After that period, records are securely destroyed.


4. How we share your information

We share personal information with:

  • Stripe — to process payments (see stripe.com/privacy)
  • MailerLite — to deliver our email sequences (see mailerlite.com/privacy)
  • Calendly — to schedule coaching and discovery sessions (see calendly.com/privacy)
  • Cloudflare — to host our website (see cloudflare.com/privacypolicy)
  • Tally — for forms and applications (see tally.so/help/privacy-policy)
  • Google Workspace — for email and calendar (see workspace.google.com/terms/privacy)

These providers process your data on our behalf under their own privacy policies. We have selected providers with strong privacy and security practices.

We may also disclose your information:

  • If required by law, court order, or government request
  • To protect our legal rights, property, or safety, or the rights of others
  • In the event of a business transfer (sale, merger, or similar)

5. Cookies and tracking

The Site uses cookies and similar technologies. Specifically:

  • Essential cookies required for the Site to function
  • Analytics cookies (when implemented) to understand how visitors use the Site

We do not use advertising cookies and do not track you across other websites. If we add tracking in the future, we will update this policy and provide a cookie consent banner where required.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect Site functionality.


6. Your rights

Depending on your location, you have rights regarding your personal information.

  • The right to non-discrimination for exercising your rights

7. Data security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including SSL encryption for the Site, secure credential storage, and selective access controls. However, no system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

If we become aware of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as required by law.


8. International transfers

We are based in Australia. Some of our service providers (Stripe, MailerLite, Calendly, Cloudflare, Google) operate internationally and may store data in the United States, European Union, or other regions. By using our Site or services, you consent to your information being transferred to and processed in these jurisdictions.

For EU/UK users, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards that our providers have in place.


9. Children

Our services are not directed at people under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have collected information from a child, contact us at hello@returntotrueself.co and we will delete it.


10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of the page reflects the most recent revision. For material changes, we will notify you by email (if we have your email) or by prominent notice on the Site.
